AIR TRAVEL

Getting to Galway by air is increasingly easy, Galway Airport is about 6km east of the city centre, only a 15 minute drive in a taxi from Galway City Center and the Conference Venue. Aer Arann fly daily from Dublin Airport to Galway airport and for those travelling from the U.K they also fly from Manchester, Luton and Edinburgh direct to Galway (see website for details). Ireland primary airport is Dublin airport, which is about a 40 minute flight from Galway . Dublin has an extensive array of airlines operating into it, with many airlines opening new routes and the emergence of cheap air-travel in Europe.

BUSES

1. CITYLINK

Citylink provide a service directly from Dublin Airport to Galway . Their buses depart from Dublin Airport every hour from 8.15am until 21.15pm.

Bus departs from Dublin City Centre every hour on the hour. Please check website for details.

Cost: A return ticket from Dublin Airport to Galway costs €28.

Duration: The bus takes 4 hours from Dublin Airport to Galway city centre.

2. Bus EIREANN

Bus Eireann buses depart from Busaras (Central Bus Station) in Dublin City Centre. Their buses depart daily every hour from 07.00 until 21.00.

Cost: The fare for a monthly return ticket to Galway costs €16.50, a single ticket costs €13.

3. Bus NESTOR

Cost: A monthly return fare from Dublin Airport to Galway is €25 and from Dublin City Centre to Galway is €14.

TRAIN TRAVEL

IRISH RAIL

Irish Rail provide a rail link between Dublin and Galway - The train departs from Heuston Station in Dublin city and you can use the Number 748 Airlink service (see below) from the airport to get to Heuston Station.

Duration: The train journey takes less than three hours.

Cost: A return fare costs €35, single €25 and a Student fare (with student card) costs €24.50.

FERRIES

Regular, scheduled ferry services operate between Ireland and the UK bringing both foot passengers and cars and other vehicles into the city through Dublin 's two ferry ports, Dublin Port and Dun Laoghaire .

Dun Laoghaire is six miles south of the city centre. The DART (Dublin Area Rapid Transport) train service will take you to and from the centre in less than half an hour. Dublin Port is closer to the centre and is served by the local number 53 bus and by special buses meeting arrivals to the Port.
